I have very flat feet and they are making my ankles hurt when I walk a lot. Does anyone have a suggestion for good walking shoes for flat feet?

I have looked on your condition over the net, this is what I saw and am going to share this to you:

"Treatment of flat feet may also be appropriate if there is associated foot or lower leg pain, or if the condition affects the knees or the back. Treatment may include using arch supports, orthotics, foot gymnastics or other exercises as recommended by a podiatrist or other physician. Surgery can provide lasting relief, and even create an arch where none existed before, but should be considered a last resort, as it is usually very time consuming and costly."

I myself also have VERY flat feet and you know what works really good is those Dr. Schools inserts for your feet. They are amazing and also work so good if you are on your feet working all day.

Dr. Schools? You mean Dr. Scholl's right.. I also recommend that product. They work wonders. Here is a link. You tell them the conditions, they get you the right inserts.

my mother also told me i am flat footed, and on this day alone I tripped and slipped for 3 times already.

for all those with flat feet, I also have flat feet and work 60 hours a week, and i have found that if you wear flat shoes and also get some inserts for your shoes, it helps out so much. You can buy these inserts at your local wal marts. you could also go to your local foot doctor and have inserts made especially made to fit your feet.

I have flat feet. I work all day long on my feet.. Inserts really dont help me that much.. Any other recommendations?

Why does one with the flat foot always get tripped or slipped more than a person with just an ordinary foot? So what if your foot is flat? what does it have to do with your balance?

Two persons that is close to me says that they are flat footed and I can't see any big difference against a normal foot. I really can't understand the principle behind this. Would some share some flat feet picture with an obvious shape deformities

To elvin: I have flat feet and there is a big difference and you would not know that being that you have an arche in your foot. The arche in your foot is put there to help support yuour back and balance. Someone with flat feet does not have that arche and it cause them terriable back pain. the reason for this is because when you have flat feet all your weight is put on the top part of your foot and cause back pain and also causes painful calais on your feet.

I have flat feet and would like some info on how to help with it.

I would like to know if there are any companies that offer a free pair of inserts to see if it helps..

It seems like flat foot is determined by the foot print that a foot yields.

A podiatrist or chiropodist can diagnose a flat foot condition during a consultation. An easy and traditional home diagnosis is the "wet footprint" test, performed by wetting the feet in water and then standing on a smooth, level surface such as smooth concrete or thin cardboard or heavy paper[3]. Usually, the more the sole of the foot that makes contact (leaves a footprint), the flatter the foot. In more extreme cases, known as a kinked flatfoot, the complete inner edge of the footprint may actually bulge outward, where in a normal to high arch this part of the sole of the foot does not make contact with the ground at all.

Thank you for your insight Annette. i will consider that.

Candice have you tryed looking at some of the links above?

Children showing sign of flat feet have better chance of loosing it when they grow old if it will be addressed properly with proper nutrient for the bones of preferable overall health. Supplements they need are Calcium, 800 mg, Silica, 500 mg and Vitamin D, 400 IU. Walking in Sandy beaches or round pebbles can also be beneficial for it can exercise you foot muscles. Still the best thing to do is to consult a podiatrist for better assessment of your foot condition

I myself have flat feet and have had them all my life. When i was a kid I had plastic inserts that the dr. made for me, and I wore them in my shoes everyday. I still have flat feet and sometimes after working a long day my feet bug me. Something that I found helps is, the Dr. Schols gel inserts.

Is there any magic shoes that could be bought to remedy flat feet easily with less expenses but sure effective. I don't think Gina's suggestions will benefit adults who have the condition cause the structural formation are already fixed. Maybe kid could try this where their bones are still softer can still be sculpted.
