• Page 1 (Original Post) • Bart (63.176.159.177) - My black German Shepherd dog chewed up one of my favorite fuzzy slippers shaped like a pig. Now I am sad and have to walk around with one good and one chewed up slipper. Bad dog, bad dog. Was he trying to tell me something? Comment #1 Hackins (63.176.159.50) - Hahaha that is one funny story. You really can't blame dogs, it is innate to them to chew off objects and probably that slippers of yours is an eye candy to him. That usually happens to dogs without training. I suggest you give the other half of your slipper to the dog to make it his "chew toy" and buy a new pair but this time put it in a safe place out of the mutts reach. Comment #2 Liza (63.176.159.76) - I suggest that you threw your "chewed" slippers away.. And that you buy a new pair of slippers that do not look like a bone to your dog. Try feeding your dog appropriately and in time, Don't you think that he is just hungry when he grabbed your slipper? HEHE.. Just kidding.. But seriously speaking, try to train your dog on simple things link just stare at your stuffs and never ever bite on them.. :) Comment #3 cwemoy (63.176.159.72) - Just like the popular adage goes, 'they tease you because they like you.' The dog was trying to communicate its affection to you. It should be female, is it? Rather than feel indifferent about her, which I doubt you are, give her a pat on the back and donate the remaining half of the slipper. I hope you have trained about good eating habits? Comment #4 Chu (63.176.159.20) - Does your slipper had a sentimental value or something like that? If not then there is no need to feel bad about it, you still can replace it though. well, of course your dog needs a little scolding which I think you did that time when he chew that slippers off. One suggestion I can think is to close your room so that you're dog could not access your belongings. Comment #5 cwemoy (63.176.159.186) - Chu, it seems the slippers must have been some sort of memento or souvenir. Come on Bart, you do not expect us to ask the dog top return the other half of the slipper..you must have scolded it just as Chu suggests. Comment #6 pale-o from around the world (63.176.159.88) - This reminds me of some TV ad I once saw about a young man complaining of the dog eating his homework. Well, perhaps the dog was trying to communicate something only you are aware of. It might not even be aware it did anything wrong but if I were you, I would give it some bashing so that it learns but in future, keep everything 'edible' away from it Comment #7 Eve (63.176.159.192) - No, he probably wasn't trying to tell you anything, but if you want the dog to not bite your slippers up again, or whatever else, you're going to have to discipline him. Comment #8 pale_o from around the world (63.176.159.244) - Eve seems to me like more of the disciplinarian type..you commit a mistake and you go down for it..are you trying to suggest that a dog cannot display emotion? Comment #9 Heidi (63.176.159.107) - Well pale_o from around the world seems to don't know the difference between discipline and plain punishment. When you discipline you are also showing care because you want your pet to learn proper manners. But when you beat them because you are angry and the like, then that is another story. Comment #10 Kira (63.176.159.38) - I have to agree with Heidi. To discipline does not necessarily mean that you are not showing mercy to the dog or any pet and you do not care about their emotions. Ofcourse not, you are actually concerned on what he will be like and behave like that is why you discipline him. Comment #11 Kevin (63.176.159.166) - Well i think i should be grateful with my parents as they discipline me, i don't behave like a dog, hehe. Comment #12 Mihe (63.176.159.10) - If you give the other pair of the slipper to your dog then he will think that it is ok to chew you slippers and he will do the slipper chewing a habit. Comment #13 Eve (63.176.159.181) - The dog was simply having fun, form my perspective. The best fun that he could have had at the particular time was simply to chew on a fuzzy pig shaped slipper. He probably doesn't like pigs, but we could never make that sort of an assumption from such a tiny and unsentimental event. Comment #14 Sarah (63.176.159.25) - Maybe, but i think that you should still try to train your dog so he wont do that again. Try to buy him some good toys that he could play with when he gets bored. This way your slippers will be safe from damage and getting your dog poisoned! Comment #15 Lucky from San Juan (63.176.159.202) - Dogs have that bad habit of chewing things. Itīs their nature to look for things to chew. Actually they always think of whatīs to eat. My dachs is that way. I enter the house and he sniffs to see if I brought something to eat. If itīs that grilled chicken he loves then he will do double backward sommersaults until I give him some. Comment #16 Eve (63.176.159.67) - Wed Dec 16 21:50:13 2009 I love dogs man, but I just cannot take the chaos. I like a dog that plays when he's bored, but can have fun simply chilling with his owner, going for a slow walk, or even a paced one, in order to get that little heart pumping freely. Comment #17 Angel Lynn (63.176.159.56) - Sat Jan 2 10:26:22 2010 I adore dogs. I have Cheekie, my ever loyal chihuahua and though she may love to chow down my sleepers for leisure W still won't abandon her for it. A sure fire remedy to that gnawing problem is to place your fluffy slippers on your side table or somewhere they can't reach. Comment #18 Mark (63.176.159.0) - Wed Jan 20 20:30:03 2010 I have to agree with Sarah. Maybe you do not care enough for your slippers and thinks that it is alright to actually let your dog chew your fussy slippers but it is wrong to let him do that. If you really care for your dog then train him or her well, what will happen if your dog got poisoned because you let him chew your slippers? Good day guys. Comment #19 Becca (63.176.159.237) - Sun Feb 14 20:24:35 2010 That is true Mark, however, you cannot expect some people to do as you suggested. Some of them are too busy to do that. And also, when that incident happens, it does not mean that they do not care about their pet, it is just that those dogs are acting naughty. The best thing to do is to put your stuffs away from their sight and their reach so that this kind of accident can be prevented. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
